Situated on the southeast coast, the quaint town of Drios (also spelled Dryos) is know to be the greenest part of the island with much to offer. A break from rowdy Naoussa and Parikia's port crowds, Drios offers excellent taverns (Markakis, Lake, Anna, ) and bars (Resalto, Markakis Cafe) as well as hand made gift shops and the best little supermarket on the island, Annousakis Market.
Drios beach is selected by many for its great fish taverns with seating close to the water. Its a small beach with unique characteristics such as the ancient stone "slips" protruding from the sea and the mostly small rock and pebbles that some guest prefer instead of sand ( especially on windy days). Another plus is its often protected from the heavy northern winds that are common in the Cyclades.
Drios was a major harbour in Paros around 1000 AD as the rock formations provided natural protection for ships. Nearby, there are fissures in the rocks which were used as boat slips to protect them from harsh weather.
